Over 30 years of experience in the drilling industry, with initial 10 years in oil and gas industry, mainly in the exploration and production wells in Indonesia (offshore and onshore) followed by 20 years in the geothermal industry in Indonesia, New Zealand, Turkey, Western USA, Hawaii, the Caribbean Islands, and East Africa.

Worked as the Senior Project manager with various private operators directing geothermal field operations including drilling, especially on remote drilling and start up projects, mainly with deep high temperature geothermal wells in New Zealand, USA and Kenya.

Technical advisor of the LBNL-SNL research projects for the Department of Energy and the International Geothermal Association. Sam has published over 20 technical papers including case studies.

Sam has been involved in the planning and execution of various EGS projects, notable is the Utah FORGE project for the DoE working under the University of Utah. The LBNL -SNL research project for the DoE is focused on better loss circulation material and placement process. Performed due diligence work on the new EGS technologies being developed in the energy market to cope the climate change issues.

Senior Advisor and Trainer for International Geothermal Association and UNEP for geothermal project management courses.
